Miss America 2011| Miss Nebraska Takes the TItle of Miss America 2011
The 90th annual Miss America Pageant aired tonight and has announced their winner. Miss America 2011 is Miss Nebraska, Teresa Scanlan. Zap2it.com reports that the petite blonde is the youngest pageant winner since 1921, when the winner was 15 years old. Miss Scanlan is 17 and impressed judges with her piano skills.
She was the only contestant who didn’t dance or sing. She performed “White Water Chopsticks” on the piano. Bloggers over at Zap2it.com claim that Miss Arkansas’s yodeling ventriloquist was the best performance.
Her answer to the judge’s question about Wikileaks and the public’s right to know versus national security was very Miss American. She said that national security should come before the public’s right to know.
Miss Delaware, Kayla Martell, who has been in the media spotlight for her alopecia areata, didn’t make it into the top five. She did make it into the top 15 though, becoming the second Miss Delaware to ever make it into the top 15 during that first cut, according to DelawareOnline.com.
